# Apple Pay Custom Checkout

> Compare the different ways to add Apple Pay to a custom checkout, based on decryption and whether you need your own Apple Developer account.

Custom checkout gives you full control over the Apple Pay experience on your website or app. There are two ways to add Apple Pay to a custom checkout: integrate directly, or route through a payment orchestrator.

## Direct Integration

If you integrate directly, use the Merchant Decrypts option. The following table summarises its requirements.

| | [Merchant Decrypts](https://www.cashfree.com/docs/payments/manage/payment-methods/credit-and-debit-cards/apple-pay/custom-checkout/merchant-decrypts.md) |
| - | - |
| Apple Developer account needed | Yes |
| PCI DSS compliance needed | Yes |
| Supported channels | App and web |
| Who handles decryption | You |
| Who handles merchant validation | You |
| Setup complexity | High |

## Via Payment Orchestrator

If you are enabling Apple Pay through a payment orchestrator, see [Orchestrator](https://www.cashfree.com/docs/payments/manage/payment-methods/credit-and-debit-cards/apple-pay/custom-checkout/orchestrator.md).
