Transaction Discount Rate (TDR) is the fee that you pay for every transaction processed using a payment gateway. The rates may differ based on the payment mode used by the customer.For example, when a customer pays via net banking, the TDR will be low, while for international credit card payments the TDR will be higher. TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) is a tax collected by the Government of India at the time income is generated, rather than at a later date. It applies to payments such as commissions, professional fees, interest, and rent.In the context of Cashfree Payments, TDS may be applicable on the payouts or commissions paid to merchants. The deducted amount is deposited with the government, and a TDS certificate (Form 16A) is issued to the merchant as proof of the deduction.You can use this certificate to claim credit while filing your income tax returns.
To submit a TDS claim, follow these steps:
  1. Submit this support form using your Cashfree registered email address.
  2. Attach the following documents:
    • A digitally signed Form 16A
    • A cancelled cheque for the bank account where the refund should be credited
  3. Cashfree Care will create a support ticket and share the estimated turnaround time (TAT).
  4. After processing, Cashfree Care will update the ticket with the UTR (Unique Transaction Reference) and the credited amount.
  5. If the details are correct, no further action is required.
  6. If you notice a discrepancy, reply to the same ticket. Cashfree Care will coordinate with the Finance team to resolve the issue.
Form 16A is a TDS certificate issued for tax deducted on non-salary payments such as commissions, interest, rent, and professional fees. It contains details of the amount paid, the tax deducted at source (TDS), and the TDS payment deposited with the government.
Cashfree raises an invoice for all processed transactions. The invoice appears on your Cashfree Merchant Dashboard on or after the 5th of the following month. You receive a notification of the invoice generation on your registered email address.
If your account has availed Free Trial credits for the billing period and you don’t have any charges or deductions, or if your account is on the surcharge model, an invoice will not be raised for you, since you have not been directly charged for the transactions.
Please follow the below steps to download the invoice:
  1. Login to your Cashfree account.
  2. On the Home page, select the Profile icon in the top-right corner, then select Profile from the menu.
  3. On the Profile page, select Invoices, select the month-year combination from the dropdown, and select Download.
  4. A new tab will open where your generated invoice(s) will be shown and you can download them Cashfree Payments India Private Limited comes under the purview of e-Invoicing under GST, and it is mandatory for us to capture all required details of the merchants correctly to generate e-Invoices. Please check the invoice to ensure that your tax details are correct.
If you want to claim Input Tax Credits, we request you to send your latest GST registration details and the GST certificate at the earliest. Please ignore this if you have already registered your information with Cashfree and details are present on the generated invoice.

Cashfree charges a Transaction Discount Rate (TDR) that varies by payment mode. The following table shows the standard rate and the current limited-period offer rate.The limited-period offer rate applies to new accounts processing up to ₹1 Crore in domestic transaction volume per month, for 12 months from signup. Cashfree supports Credit Card EMI, Debit Card EMI, Cardless EMI, and Pay Later at checkout, each with its own charge structure.Credit Card EMI and Debit Card EMI are supported with ICICI Bank, AU Small Finance Bank, Axis Bank, Bank of Baroda, RBL Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, YES Bank, HSBC, American Express, and HDFC Bank. Cardless EMI is supported through CASHe, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, IDFC FIRST Bank, TVS Credit, LazyPay, HDB Financial Services, Snapmint, Simpl Pay, and ZestMoney. Cashfree charges the following rates for international card payments, in addition to any applicable Goods and Services Tax (GST).PayPal transactions are charged at standard payment gateway rates. Yes. Virtual Bank Accounts used to collect payments through IMPS, NEFT, or RTGS are charged a flat fee starting at ₹20 per transaction.
The 1.6% limited-period offer is available from September 18, 2025 to July 31, 2026, subject to the following conditions.
  • Applies only to new Cashfree accounts, including merchants switching from another payment gateway.
  • Covers domestic transaction volume up to ₹1 Crore per month. Volume beyond this cap is charged at the standard 1.95% rate.
  • Covers international transaction volume up to ₹10 Lakh per month. Volume beyond this cap is charged at the standard 2.99% rate.
  • Requires UPI transactions to account for at least 40% of your monthly Gross Transaction Value (GTV). If this condition isn’t met in a given month, the offer doesn’t apply for that month.
  • Isn’t available to merchants referred through partners or resellers.
  • Doesn’t apply if any payment mode on your account is on custom pricing.
  • American Express cards issued outside India are charged at standard pricing regardless of the offer.

For all the transactions processed, an invoice is raised and shows up on your Cashfree Merchant Dashboard on the 5th of the next month, i.e for the services rendered for the period 1st Jan to 31st Jan, Cashfree raises the invoice by 5th of Feb. The invoice will have the total value of the transactions processed and respective Transaction Discount Rate(TDR) + GST as applicable.

No, the Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) or Transaction Discount Rate (TDR) is not displayed to the merchant on the checkout page. However, you can view the charges applied to your transactions on your monthly invoice. The invoice will show the processing fees or charges deducted for each transaction, allowing you to calculate and verify the TDR applied to your payments.
